Filters for agricultural machinery
Let’s take filters for tractors as an example. Filters, such as oil filters for tractors, are critical elements that ensure trouble-free operation of the tractor’s engine. The use of various filters ensures that impurities and harmful particles are removed before they can damage the engine. This is a critical factor with regard to engine performance. It is important to change the oil filter each time you change the oil. Other filters must also be changed regularly. For example, a gasoline filter needs to be replaced after about 800 working hours, while an air filter should be replaced every 20,000km, depending on the manufacturer.

Air filters
A tractor air filter is an important replacement part that plays a critical role in ensuring that these agricultural machines function optimally. To optimize the effective power output, i.e., the power delivered by the engine to the drivetrain, the intake and polluted air is filtered by the air filter in your tractor. This protects the engine from particulate matter, pollen, and soot, which is crucial for correct engine operation and a long service life. To avoid major engine damage, ELSÄSSER recommends regularly checking the air filter for contamination with dust, as well as the tractor’s other filters and replacement parts, such as hoses, etc.
Oil filters
The job of an oil filter is to filter the engine oil and thus protect the engine in a tractor or agricultural machine from contaminants. Even the tiniest impurities – deposits, soot particles, dirt, and even tiny metal splinters – that are produced due to abrasion will accelerate engine wear. It is therefore essential to change the oil filter regularly, as it can only absorb a certain amount of dirt particales. Furthermore, the engine oil should not circulate unfiltered in the engine of a tractor or agricultural machine. In tractors, timely oil filter changes will prevent premature engine wear, which could otherwise cause serious damage.
Fuel filters
The fuel filter ensures that the engine is protected from particles borne by the fuel itself. If fuel is used without pre-filtration, it will contain a wide variety of undesirable dirt particles and impurities. One example of this is rust. To prevent engine wear and corrosion, a fine filter is used to strain the fuel before it gets there. To achieve optimum fuel flow, regular inspection and replacement of the fuel filter is essential. This will help to optimize engine performance and, in turn, the overall performance of your tractor or agricultural machine.
Cabin air filters
Cabin air filters and interior air filters, also called pollen filters, are used in air-conditioning systems in tractors and combine harvesters. They are standard equipment for every tractor and other type of agricultural machine. The purpose of the filter element is to trap dust, thereby lowering its concentration accordingly. After prolonged use, the cabin air filter will become less efficient as it becomes increasingly clogged with dust and pollen. During the high-pollen period in spring and also in smog, heavily soiled filters may actually contaminate the air-conditioning system, resulting in lower-quality air for the driver. It is therefore important to replace the cabin air filter at regular intervals.
Activated carbon filters
Special cabin air filters, also called combination filters, are also available for your tractor. Thanks to a layer of activated carbon, these filters not only trap dust, pollen, and soot particles, but also remove harmful exhaust gases and odors from your tractor’s cabin.
